Monpe Trousers
Monpe is the work trousers that were worn mostly by farmers in Japan, later developed as functional casual trousers, and became accepted as a daily items by people in the wide range of occupation, age and gender.
This trousers are very cosy - after knowing how comfortable it is, it’s difficult to take them out.
The fabric is woven with the vintage shuttle loom machine from 1800’s by the small local textile producers in Japan. The production method hasn’t changed a lot since then, except the constant small innovative ideas in details.
Onoda has been working with this Monpe producer in Kyushu already for several years. Now the new fabric for winter was developed with cotton mole. It’s very warm as wool.
This dark blue colour can be suggested as an alternative trousers to jeans for the cold season.
It’s warm, comfortable, neutral, and the good mix of modern and analogue.
