Original drawings of shunshun

The original drawing of shunshun is for the first time to be exhibited outside of Japan.

Meaning a line in Japanese, ¨Sen¨ is the series of drawing inspired by the landscapes of Japan. Behind his drawings lie the elements such as the nature, the universe, and the fluctuation, and the motif includes the substance such as the water and the sunlight.

He was living in Tokyo working as an architect, when he experienced the catastrophe influenced by the earthquake and Tsunami disaster hit in north of Japan in 2011. This event changed his mind completely from the essential level. He stoped his career as an architect and decided to dedicate his lifetime on making drawings which had already been his passion for long time in his free time.

‘‘Until that experience, I was thinking somehow, we were all dying one day, but never knew when exactly, so the death had been felt like something surrealistic, but after the incidence I became so sure that we would one day. Also the things having looked steady collapsed suddenly before my eye. It revealed in many ways, that they were not steady at all, but actually so on the edge and fragile. ‘‘

After listening his story, I understood why his drawing is so calming and peaceful. His drawing reminds me our origin and roots where where we all used to be.

The sunlight reflects quietly on the surface of water, so does the mind inside us on the world.
